Giving to a church is NOT like paying admission to a ball game or to see a play or concert.
It is giving to God, through the church, in response to what He’s given you. “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 Donating is NOT giving God back the leftovers at the end of the month. It’s an act of faith, giving to God first, and trusting Him to provide for your needs. “You shall give to him freely, and your heart shall not be grudging when you give to him, because for this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in all that you undertake.” Deuteronomy 15:10 Giving to God through the church, not only pays the bills, but it also provides the resources for the church to help others in need, to support the ministries of our church such as our school, child care, camp, and to send missionaries throughout the world to share the good news of Jesus with others. “For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God.” 2 Corinthians 9:12 Giving is NOT something you should do out of guilt, but out of joy. “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7 |
