Mark Glen Cutler was born to Elword and Mathilda (Bruns) Cutler on July 31, 1962 in Des Moines, Iowa. While growing up, the family mostly lived in Sioux City, Iowa. After graduating from North High School in Sioux City, Mark attended Concordia College, Seward, Nebraska. He graduated from Concordia in 1984 with a BS in Education. (Major: Social Science with a Geography emphasis). Feeling called to go into the pastoral ministry, Mark attended Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri. His vicarage experience was at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Rochelle, Illinois. Mark graduated from seminary in 1988 with a Masters of Divinity. Mark has ministered in a variety of church settings: Christ, West Bloomfield, Wisconsin; St. Paul, Thermopolis, Wyoming; Christ, Mustang, Oklahoma; and St. John, Seward, Nebraska.
In June of 2005, Mark accepted the call to serve as Senior Pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church, Kalispell, Montana. Mark has earned a Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, California in 2009. Mark has served in the past on the National Board of Directors of Lutherans for Life, and is now serving in the local chapter as president. He has most recently served as Circuit Counselor of the Flathead Circuit. Mark was married on June 29, 1985 to Joann Schimmel, and has since that time, experienced God’s gift of life with 4 children: Luke (23), Benjamin (21), Rachel (19), and James (17). Mark enjoys staying physically fit by participating in a variety of sports. He is open to new and innovative ways of spreading God’s Word throughout the world. His personal purpose is: “to pioneer parish processes into pro-active policies and procedures.” Administration and vision setting are gifts which Mark attempts to use in furthering God’s work.
